7PM at Galatheakroen. We are all familiar with Italian, Chinese, Indian, Japanese etc. cuisine, but Danish? For this dinner you will get what for centuries has been the national dish. You need to preorder if you have the courage to try this this meal (look at the registration page for details), but after 8PM you can just show up for a drink. The Galatheakroen is quite a mythical place—more information to be added later (sorry to create a cliff hanger…). |
Pre-conference dinner: September 24th
All too frequently people who attend conferences scatter in all directions after a day’s sessions. So we’ve decided to try to avoid that, to give you a chance to discuss the papers of the day right outside the conference hall. The bar opens after the last paper, so use this oppertunity to discuss the papers of the day over a beer. |
After session bar: September 25th
No after session bar this day. After the final paper we all walk to Nyhavn (15 min) where there will hopefully be time for a drink before we sail for the late 19th century Middelgrunden fort, This is where the conference dinner is taking place. Look at the Registration page for price details. Once there, over a drink we will get a brief introduction to the fortifications of Copenhagen and the role of the Middelgrunden fort by Svend Erik Abrethsen. The dinner is a three course meal with wine ad libitum. The Danish Heritage Agency is happy to sponsor the food, so so the dinner cost is for the voyage and the wine. The boat leaves for Nyhavn at 10.30 PM with arrival c. 11.30. The pubs in Nyhavn are still open… |
Conference dinner: September 26th

Details to follow, but we can disclose this much. An archaeological programme is planned in the vicinitry of Roskilde/Lejre. A brewery visit at end the day is under serious investigation... |
